Tell me about yourself.

I’m a freelance illustrator from Atlanta, Ga currently working in Brooklyn, NY.

Tell me about your journey as an artist.

I’ve always been drawing since I was young and never seriously considered a non-creative career path. I went to SCAD in Atlanta/Savannah for undergrad and SVA in New York for grad school. I finished school last year and have been trying to build up my freelance work since then.

Describe your style in a few words. How did you come to define this style?

Eh that’s a really tough question for me as style is something I am constantly trying to develop. There are a lot of trends in the illustration world and it can be hard to separate your work from fitting one of those molds. Lately I’ve just been trying to make work that makes me happy and leave it at that.

When did you start drawing digitally?

I got my first wacom tablet when I was in 7th grade. Definitely not the coolest birthday present to tell your middle school friends about. I was interested in animation so I did some research and found they’d be much easier to create and edit on a computer. My professors in undergrad encouraged the use of photoshop/tablets so I got more used to drawing with them over time.

What inspires you?

The work of other creatives that I admire is the greatest source of inspiration to me. Going to concerts, museums, or even just taking a walk and listening to a good album can give you a lot of ideas for your own work.
